Script Second Pass

After discussing with my group i went back and made changes to the script. The story was good but the pacing needed to be reorganised so scenes were moved around and i added more details in regards to the mood of the scene and what the atmosphere and tone might be.

INT. EMPTY HALLWAY
The girl walks into her home hallway and throws a plane ticket in the bin. She throws her bags and suitcase to the side and heads towards a door that's at the end of the hall. But stops at one that's been left ajar.
The old piano room is one of the largest rooms in the house with shelves that go up to the ceiling full to the brim with music books and sheets. These books and sheets have spread to the floor and are scattered around, surrounding the various other instruments in the room. A large cello, different brass and wind instruments and a lineup of string instruments spread out from the back wall. Two large windows let in the moonlight as it reflects off of the black piano. She peers in. The mood in the room is dull and blue in contrast to the hallway which has much warmer colours. The room feels cold and empty.
She walks in and sits at the stool. She begins to play the piano. As she plays she thinks back to earlier in the day and the scene fades into the airport.

INT. TERMINAL
She’s running in the terminal and she gets to the gate. But the air hostess can’t let her in. Devastated she walks away from the gate and towards the window and leans against it. She is visibly tired and gives a frustrated sigh and pulls out her phone. She calls her grandma.
Yun
[Panicked] Hi I’m sorry, I’ve missed the flight (long pause) how’s grandpa doing?
(She goes quiet as does the music of the piano.)

INT. STUDY
Camera cuts back to her at her piano looking solemnly at the keys. She looks around the room and remembers her childhood.

The shot cuts to the door as she sees herself walking into the studio. Her child self sits at the piano and looks up at her. We cut away and see the shot of her child self looking at her grandpa as he shows her how to play the piano. They start to play a more gentle and simpler piece.

INT. TERMINAL
The music continues in the background and we cut back to the airport in a wide shot showing her standing in front of the airport window a wide shot shows her a much more empty and isolated situation than what she remembered as she slides down the window and slumps on the floor. The long shot means we can’t hear what she says next but it involves nodding of the head clarifying her responses. The wide shot will also amplify how small she needs to look in this situation. She gets up off the floor and switches off her phone. As she stands there for a moment she looks at the floor. We again shift back to her in the studio playing the piano.

INT. STUDY
She is now playing the notes she played as a child with her grandpa in the form of a solo. As she continues to play the music starts to come to life as the song her grandpa played. It starts to fill the room with visuals reflecting the music. She shifts to starting to play the piano herself and the piece becomes a duet between her and her grandpa. As the room begins to build with atmosphere and becomes brighter reflecting her childhood she stops and the room cuts back to being blue and real. But this time the room is also filled with the light of the moon and is no longer dark. It's been filled with the light that his music brought just in a different form. She sits at the piano and looks up at the moon.
