Script

Int. Scene: Girls bedroom/studio

As she sits at her desk she looks at her computer screen. Her eyes focused on the music she's writing. Around her we see piles of sheets and organised instruments polished and cared for as well as notes saying deadline and concert, piece for tomorrow. As she sits back to give it a final look she smiles and smirks to herself. She moves to hit play. The surrounding world changes to her sitting at a piano playing her piece in a big concert hall the world filled with colour and ornate style designs. But as she plays the song quickly devolves into a mess and her world starts to crumble. She starts to panic and knocks the crumbling world away. [all of a sudden, the music stops, leaving her breathing alone] When she comes to she realises that the room has been turned into a mess. As she starts to clear up the mess she finds her old guzheng from home (identified by a chinese charm hanging off of it)  which was covered by shirts and music sheets. She sits and looks at it for a bit wiping the dust off of the instrument. She decides to play a note. Its out of tune. Her initial response is disgust at the sound but she reluctantly tries a different note and the visuals around her turn reminiscent of home, just for a moment. She becomes excited and starts to tune the instrument.

[Scene fades to black and we hear an alarm]

As the alarm goes off she jolts up and dashes around to get her stuff to go to school, she leaves the room and turns back and glances over at the guzheng and decides to pack it up to take with her, before proceeding to leave again, closing the door behind her.

Ext. Scene: University

As she runs into class with the guzheng she disrupts her teacher's lesson causing them to stop on the piano in shock. They look over and glare at the girl but then spot the guzheng with a puzzled expression. She runs over and takes it out to show them but sees their expression becoming more angry. They head to their seat as the teacher returns to the piano and starts to play the piano again as the girl slides into her seat as the class room mutters and looks confused except for one classmate who has an expression of excitement and intrigue in the background.

She proceeds to leave the classroom with the teacher directly behind her she is handed a sheet of piano music and they head in opposite directions, the teacher continuing to scowl while the girl looks disheartened. As she heads down the hallway her classmate grabs her and pulls her round the corner. She is confused as the friend excitedly takes the guzheng from her hands and takes a look at it. Her classmate looks at her and encourages her to go through with the idea.

Int. Scene: Multiple montage sort of scenes
The pair continue to meet up and discuss the composition in the girls studio with the girl on the guzheng and the friend on the piano/keyboard. In between they both go to the music classes where she works on her notes for the guzheng hiding them from her teacher, along with the piano piece. Finally we see posters and signs going up for the performance.

Int. Scene: The theatre

As the crowd starts to seat the teacher starts to get anxious in the wings and then spots the two girls running behind the curtain and get to the wings. The teacher begins to get angry but then switches to confusion, wondering why both of them are there and why the one supposedly playing the piano is holding the guzheng. Before they can stop them the girls walk on stage. The teacher panics and starts to frantically try and get the stage hands to lower the curtain. The students begin to perform and initially the audience is confused but the students continue as the visuals of western and eastern influences start to appear and fill the room. The audience gets swallowed up by the visuals
