Applied Animation - Book of Life and elf redesign

While struggling with an idea i watched the book of life, mostly because i had heard of it before but never watched so i was curious. I found that i really liked the designs of the female characters. They were based off of dolls and puppets so they were really stylised but there was a lot of action happening in the animation so i tried to apply it to my designs.

Design-wise i focused on the character Maria and applied it to my elf. The first one was way too cartoony and almost Chibi in style so i had to try and stretch her out, this resulted in very skinny body which wasn't quite what i was looking for as i wanted her to be seen as a strong warrior character. but i didn't like the design either so i tried making an almost direct copy of Maria which resulted in a really nice design but that was because it was playing off an already established design and i wasn't satisfied with that, the eyes also look to soft and caring and don't fit Arya's strong character.
I tried to redesign the eyes and body again working from the aspect of the book of life as well as the realism, trying to combine the two. This resulted in a really cool design for the eye that made her look really fierce and fitted the mood i was aiming for. but when i started to redesign the body again it all fell apart and looked terrible making her look really creepy and less powerful and fierce.
