Applied Animation - Eragon character design
Once i had established the art style it became a lot easier to create my other characters as i knew how to work with the art style. The description of Eragon is that he's a 15 year old boy who had dark eye brows and was a farm hand. So i worked with the idea of a fairly generic looking main character however i was concerned that as i drew him the art styles wouldn't match up with other characters. This is especially prevalent in the early attempts where he looks less song of the sea inspired and a bit more manga like which is what i didn't want. The hair was also tricky to figure out as it is supposed to be tousled and unruly so i was trying a variety of scruffy hair-do's. The hands were squared off at the ends and i gave the jaw a rounded square look to show a young masculinity to him however he is still naive.
