Applied Animation - Movie Research How to train your Dragon 1 and 2

To start my research i watched some movies which included dragons, the obvious ones were How to train your dragon 1 and 2. The way they presented these dragons was closer to flying dogs, having to train them to sit and behave, presenting them as more warm blooded dogs rather than lizards. The designs are also a lot more elongated and not quite the kind of dragon you'd initially think of, like western or eastern dragons, if theres anything close to there designs it would be western but its really relaxed. The only one that is similar to a typical dragon design the character toothless is the most fitting but he is very much the most dog like in behaviour.

I also watched it to see how they made the dragons fly and move about, this varied with each dragon species; long necked ones bobbed their heads up and down as their body did the same, while some had equivalent to fly wings, buzzing and hovering around able to make tight turns, finally the last types glided through the air with wings spread wide with a few flaps every so often flying fast and strong. When it comes to animating I'm going to find videos of birds gliding to see the nicest motion.
