As mentioned in the previous blog post i looked into the art styles of Wakfu and Song of the Sea. Both have a very childish element to them but could still have action motion applied to them. The Wakfu designs are very stocky with full figure characters with athletic bodies and a very mangaesque look in the face, this didn't fit the character i was trying to show, she looked strong enough but she didn't look feminine enough. So i then applied the art style of Song of the Sea which looked so nice but she looked too mellow and not fierce enough as a character, so i tried drawing her in a few action poses with a harsher expression and this brought so much character out of her making her a strong and feminine character.
while trying these styles i also tried drawing it using an ink brush to see what lines came from it and what style could of been produced but the lines were two thick and uneven to make use of in an actual animation of this kind but i would like to consider this as a legitimate media for me to animate in later on.
As well as the above style reference i tried taking reference from the real world by drawing out a friend of mine and then drawing the character to match her figure but this didn't work unfortunately as she looked too long and not fantastical enough to fit the animation.
