Visual Langauge - Captain Character, Chris Sanders Lilo and Stitch

Chris Sanders is an animator, illustrator and character designer who works for disney. He was the main driving force behind the design and the starting story of Disneys Lilo and Stitch. His art style is quite different to Disneys usual Art style of the cookie cutter design for disney princesses. His characters carry more weight on them and are more human making them more appealing and quite beautiful to behold example being Nani, Lilos older sister who has a very real body shape. He avoids using multiple lines and sharp edges to create a more down to earth and weighted character, going into the simple starting shapes he uses a trapezium shape as his basis for Nani and all his characters start with a simple overall shape that they follow and are very weighted to the earth, this is shown in his drawings of the characters that they appear to have more pull or gravity on them bring weight in limbs and there over all body down.

This link has more sheets about his methods in drawing his characters and the characters of Lilo and Stitch
